Rehabilitation Populations Perceived Health and Self-Efficacy Among Adults with Cerebral Palsy

Perceptions of self-efficacy and heaith attitudes among people with cerebrai paisy who are iiving in the community were expiored. Their self-efficacy ratings were related to amount of mechanical and personai assistance needed and perceived financiai resources. When compared with two other groups, people attending a health fair and peopie from a statewide disabiiity advocacy group, participants with cerebral palsy scored lower on The Self-Rated Abiiities for Health Practices Scale, particuiarly in the areas of exercise and nutrition. Participants aiso provided information about what prevents them from promoting their health. Suggestions for rehabilitation counseling practice are inciuded.
